This dates from 1951, but the art on the "straight" strips looks like something from the 1920s. Are these reprints of very old strips?

I'm sorry I do not have any additional information about the origin of the strips you specified.  There is obviously nothing in the album itself to indicate whether these are reprints from an earlier period or not. Perhaps there is another CB+ member who might have more expert knowledge on this subject... ?  At any rate, thanks for your query, Crashryan, and I hope that you enjoy this upload.  If I do come across any additional information, I shall of course post it for you.  Meanwhile, I hope to have another G.G.Swan upload to offer in the near future.  (Watch this space!)   Cheers!  Melbee.

Another great  addition to this site.  Thanks melbee.
I don't know if these are reprint strips but I will ask around. Certainly the humour strips seem to conform to Swan material of the time.
The outstanding feature for me is that excellent colour plate at the start of the album.  I think it might be part of one of the text stories.  If so, would it be possible to scan that story for us?  I am being a bit selfish but that flying, costumed character looks so intriguing and I love that stuff.
The more Swan material the better.

No problem!  Happy to oblige, Paw.  Glad you like the uploads of Swan material.  I have just uploaded the Funnies Album 1953, and I have one other Swan album in my collection.  It is the Fairies Album 1949.  I have hesitated to submit this album up to now as it predominately consists of text (though excellently illustrated) stories.  It does however contain in addition to the top-notch illustrations, four two-page strips in colour.  Would this also qualify for upload to your site?  If so, I will be happy to oblige.  Regards, Melbee.

Oh yes, please. The Fairies Album will fit nicely in the Swan section and at the very least, draw attention to the diversity of material published by the company. Looking forward to it, especially those illustrations.
