Neat book. In the fight scene Friar Tuck certainly resembles Eugene Pallette from the 1938 movie. I wonder if publisher Raphael Tuck was a descendant of the good friar.

Well unfortunately Crashryan, I don't know much about Raphael Tuck.  However, I have heard that historically the original rotund 'Tuck' was the first one to open a chip shop over here and as a consequence came to be known the length and breadth of Merrie England as 'the Fryer of Nottingham'. (Sorry!)  Melbee.   ;) ;D

Hence the expression, "from the frying pan into the fryer (frier)"  There is a chippie up here called "The Merrie Friar"
And this one in Nairn:-
