Absolute or Omnibus? What's more worth the $$$

I'm a big fan of both, absolutes are great for stories that have fantastic art (Kingdom Come), Omnibus are fantastic for covering a lot of stories that occurred during that run.

You know, I haven't really heard those terms.  Omnibus I recognise but have never used, but absolute? I think I see what you're getting at.  My answer is, I'm not sure. Sorry.

I think 'Absolute' is a marketing term invented by DC for marketing reprints. When they reprint the original plus every peripheral piece of work that they can find and justify, they call that an 'Absolute' edition. I think the first was 'Absolute Watchmen'. Marvel uses 'Omnibus' now for single collections of 'runs' of titles when the collection might run  into 20 or more issues. Reprints are currently big business for the 'Big two'
So if you just want to read, Omnibus. If your interest is greater ( or if you are a hard-core fan) and you want to collect everything about that work, Absolute is for you.
Cheers.

O.K. Got it, Panther. Thank you. I'm going down to my local library for a good delve in the comic book section.
I like the tone (am I mis-reading it?) of, "every peripheral piece of work that they can find and justify"
I think I'm more used to the tpb's with 6 part stories collected.
