There’s no better way to get into the Christmas spirit than to read Bunter. His latest scheme involves the Ghost of Christmas Pudding. It would be unfair to give away too many details – enough to say that justice as well as pudding is finally served. As always with Bunter (“no more sense than a rabbit”), it is the balance between real drama – in this case, the thrilling detail of a shipwreck and a frightening case of blackmail – and Bunter’s slapstick shenanigans that raises the lyrical storm-tossed writing of Frank Richards to the level of genius.
