Happy birthday to Hannes Hagen, the creator of Mosaik, the great East German comic book series. As far as I'm aware Hannes is still with us at 95 years young.

The lead characters of Mosaik - Dig, Dag and Digedag - have endured for more than half a century and have visited most countries in their adventures and most time periods too - they've even been in space (Hmmm, Asterix in Space - now there's an idea).

Sales have tipped more than 200 million copies.
