Today marks the forty-ninth anniversary of Yoko Tsuno - so next year will be the big one.

Yoko is significant in that she is quite possibly the first girl I ever had a crush on (after Tina Barnes, the girl who lived down the road and looked like Lulu). Sadly, my quest for Yoko came to nothing - though I did enjoy several of her BD adventures.

A few years ago, I had a complete collection of the 'Yoko Tsuno' comics. I found the extremely detailed drawings in the Ligne Claire style particularly fascinating.

When I read some stories again a few years ago, they didn't really appeal to me anymore, I thought that the characters hadn't developed much further over the years, but maybe my memories are also wrong.

By the way, one of my first great loves was Princess Aleta of the Misty Isles, I never forgave her for marrying Prince Valiant. :(
