Today we celebrate the ninety-ninth birthday of Jacquse Martin who brought us Alix. Sadly, Jacques died in 2010 aged eighty-eight.

Most of what I know of the Roman Empire comes from reading Alix and Asterix (and re-interpreting what I read in the Trigan Empire).

I have to admit, that I haven't read 'Alix' yet, but I'm very enthusiastic about 'L.Frank'. The stories are exciting and the detailed drawings are great. I didn't read the more recent 'L.Frank' stories from other artists, although they are also excellent comic artists.
