Today we mark the 89th anniversary of the first Dick Tracy strip - one of the all-time greats.

I have a confession to make - I actually liked the 1990 Warren Beatty movie and wished there had been more.

Strange that we haven't had any kind of revival from any of these new content providers like Netflix, Amazon and so on.

Not strange at all. Sad yes. Warren Beatty put Tracy through copyright hell, won and owns the copyright, and has done nothing with it and refuses to let it go.

Beatty is now 83, so don't hold your breath. I was disappointed in the movie, but maybe if I saw it again I might change my mind. I doubt it. It should have been more like 'The Fugitive' movie. The Strip is all chases and escapes.
