Your passion for comics is?
« on: April 09, 2010, 04:05:55 AM »

Ok, I have to admit its retro style cartooning from the 50 and 60's  and I like the new twist with modern characters like Kim Possible:

Here is some art:

and

I am actually going back to "school" to draw this style starting this monday!! I will still keep my day job :) But....I hope to have a portfolio of this type of work for all to see.

Anyone an artist here, or like a certain style?

cheers

Well, I just discovered Fletcher Hanks few days ago, and I'm a frothing, rabid fanboy right now with a relegious zeal, which I hear is a common reaction in his case. ;D

There are much better artists ( some would say probably everyone ), but something clicks for me in his art - I imagine it's how young Crumb would do super heroes. :)

Also, I love Robert Crumb's style.

And, since slugfests are what I like best about super hero comics, I love Erik Larsen's kinetic and forceful over the top action art.

My passion for comics Oddball Silver Age. I love what are often considered the worst. To the mind of an 8-10 year old they were more "interesting" than the DC or Marvel. I recognized that the art was not as good but I think it goes to my penchant for pulling for the underdog and the fact I am a little weird myself
