Mighty interesting character, never heard of him before.

Yeah, looks like Charlton comics might have once again bought out another publisher and taken the credit.

LoneRanger04, Well done! You have a very good brain. If you check here, you will see that the original publisher is listed as 'Frank Communale'. Doesn't mean that it was ever printed anywhere else tho.
If you check some of the threads here on CB+ you will find that there was a lot of legal malarkey going on in comic publishing in the Golden Age.

This is what Don Markstein has to say about it.

It will probably come as no surprise to find that Marvel and DC from the 60's were well aware which Golden Age characters with interesting names were PD because the companies that produced them had not copyrighted them and gone out of business. Many current big two characters trace their names back to the Golden age. Roy Thomas used YellowJacket for Marvel.

As that article points out, How come he is YellowJacket, when his powers come from Bees?

Cheers!

Interesting! Also I believe copyright only lasts for 50 years and then it has to be renewed, so unless a comic were to bought out by a big corporation like DC Comics or Marvel, it?s guaranteed to end up in the public domain. Hopefully over the next decade we should be getting access to lots more quality stuff!
