Can you believe this strip ran from 1915 (!!) to 1971? According to Toonopedia, it began with Freckles a 7-year-old. He grew slowly to be a teen, then stopped. The feature started with daily gags, went to longer stories, had a turn as an adventure strip, and finally became a teen strip. Markstein says that "after a few decades" Blossert's assistant Henry Formhals took over the art. I wonder what possessed Standard to run a long continuity only to end it mid-storyline when our hero was in trouble deep.
