Nice to see a view of Stonewall Jackson that’s different from the mainstream establishment narrative we might get today. It’s also nice to see that other countries had a positive view of American history at one time, rather than the negative view of it we seem to be intent on broadcasting to the world nowadays. We’re our own worst enemy. I must admit, due to changing language and social mores, parts of this book come off as unintentionally funny, but that makes it even more enjoyable!
