Wonderful stuff. Thanks Fra. I always had a soft spot for The Web - even his Mighty Crusaders revival.

Being perverse by nature, my favorite the WEB version was the Impact comics [DC] one. In this instance, The WEB was a SHIELD type organization. They all wore bright yellow costumes. The cover of issue one was unforgettable. A hairy redheaded guy wearing a bright yellow jumpsuit, on a motorbike. Visual Colour overload! Loved it. Didn't last long tho.
I also loved the Impact version of the Black Hood. It was literally about the actual black hood, which had been passed down for centuries, from wearer to wearer, giving the book something of a phantom feel, but not everybody who wore it became a phantom-type hero.

The Impact Web was the version I least liked, whereas the Mighty Comics version was good fun and featured a hen pecked hero.
Panther, you're right about the Black Hood, imo.
But surely you have to love that action packed, colourful first Web story. I thought it looked great.
