Joe Doolin is an interesting artist. He drew solid figures with a Crandall-like feel and inked with clean, controlled pen lines. Doolin had begun his career in the mid-1920s illustrating for the pulps. When he moved over to comics he became one of Fiction House's main cover men and illustrated many stories as well. He did some fine work on the Mars series. It almost concealed the fact that Mars was one of the least coherent features in a company noted for incoherent stories.
