The first 6 books in that series were written and drawn by Cady, originally for his nationally syndicated comic strip, if I remember correctly.  Then, I think the next book was filled with reprints of Vince Fago's strips (he followed Cady in drawing the newspaper strip).  The last 20+ issues were drawn by Frank Carin, who was the main Funny Animal and children's comic artist for Avon Periodicals.
