For what it's worth, John Ryan said of Paul Wheelahan that his art was "sparse and devoid of un-needed detail and similar to US comic artist Steve Ditko, with the strength of Wheelahan's comic lying in his storylines." (That's on p.208 of Panel by Panel, if you have it handy.) Of course, what style of art appeals to each of us will vary considerably!
