One thing that I notice in these early issues of Gem Comics is the simple elegance of Phil Belbin's logos for his stories - Ace Bradley in this issue and those for the Raven in issues 2 and (especially) 4. Like quite a few of the artists of Australian Golden Age, Belbin studied technical drawing and commercial art which contributes to the approach to the smooth and clean design of the stories. (Slightly embarrassingly, I've also noticed I've misspelled Belbin a few times on this site! Ah well)
