Lengthy New St. John Article
« on: May 06, 2008, 11:59:49 PM »

Hello all!

People on this board may want to pick up the current (May 2008) issue (#77)of Roy Thomas' zine Alter Ego[/i] as it contains a lengthy article by Ken Quattro entitled The Gospel According to Archer St. John: A History of St. John Publishing (1947-1958)--The Little Comic Book Company That Could. The article runs 54 pages and as always for this zine is heavily illustrated.

Please be kind; this is my first posting! ;D

Hey monster thanks for posting.  I recommend the article also.  My name appears in the mag twice Jim Ludwig for supplying info and a scan.

Being kind of new to a lot of this comics stuff, I just got my first couple issues of Alter Ego this week (the Matt Baker issue and the Biro issue).  What a cool mag! I've been looking into St. John lately and can't wait to check this new one out.  I recently read John Benson's Confessions, Romances, Secrets, and Temptations:  Archer St. John and the St. John Romances (sheesh long title) and enjoyed it very much for those that haven't checked it out.  It's full of interviews and has all sorts of neat pictures of covers and artist model shots, great fun!  There were a couple of recent St. John scans that came out (abbott and costello 2 and an issue of Jackie Gleason) I'll use this thread as a reminder to get em on the ftp.
Cheers,

D

I always loved St. John's Abbot and Costello. Beautiful stuff, along the lines of DC's Adventures of Bob Hope.
