I assume this might cause some dissension in the ranks but the facts are correct. This story from The Scotsman newspaper, a national daily, on Monday.  Interestingly, although the point was to note the first use of balloons in a strip, the illos. accompanying the article didn't include those with balloons.

While I'm rather proud of this accolade, I think others might want to contest it.  So, let's be having you ;)
