Thanks for bringing these to my attention. I just had to search for more infomation about this Corliss Archer. Feldstein based her on Janet Waldo who voiced Corliss Archer on the radio. And Waldo (who was 24 at the time--not a teenager) did really look like that at the time--although Al may have stacked her a little more than reason should allow--what a joy he must have had.

Janet Waldo went on to voice other characters in animation like Judy Jetson.

Shirley Temple played Corliss in a couple of movies. And on TV she was played by Ann Baker. But neither of these actresses quite measure up to the dimensions that Feldstein gave the teen.

Addendum: If you look at the other two issues that were published after this, Feldstein isn't so extreme in his inking style. Maybe he was told to cut it out--because Corliss Archer was an American institution. Corliss must've felt deflated.
