Australian copyright has long been (and I believe also retroactively) based on the death(s) of the creator(s), just like Europe, so tread carefully.

Unfortunately Australia has no seperate provisions pertaining to work for hire situations, for our time period copyright expires 50 years from the death of the author/authors, so l doubt many Australian comics would be public domain. Australia does not require registration of copyright, so a copyright notice is not necessary for the work to be protected. Sorry narfstar but we are not likely to ever have an aussie section for comics, not unless l can get legal advise on whether or not the site can be classed as an archive.
