Post early for Christmas!
« on: December 03, 2013, 01:52:05 AM »

I've just uploaded the issue of The Union Jack for December 13th, 1924, containing the story Sexton Blake's Xmas Truce. The issue is complete except for the six-page Detective Supplement. This does not affect the feature story, of course. Everything else should be "fit and present," including some advertisements that may revive memories of Christmases long past for our British readers. Remember Meccano building sets? Remember Hornby clockwork trains? And I'm sure our reindeer friend Rudolph will be anxious to read the advertisement headed "Have you a red nose?" The answer, apparently, is to send a stamp to pay postage "and you will learn how to rid yourself of such a terrible affliction free of charge." Oh good ... no mention of cutting down on the drinking, which might not tie in too well with end-of-year celebrations! Merry Christmas, all!

Great.  Thank you.  Downloaded and added to the Christmas Magnets for Yuletide reads.

Here is a little Christmas something. I have added another subsection to the Virtual Newsstand.

This time all the books we have with cover dates are split into months and then sorted by year. The idea being that you can find seasonal stuff a bit easier. I am not sure it was actually worth all the effort, but it's done now!!!

I have also got it producing a basic list as well ... but haven't added the option to link it into the site yet!

As with most things here consider it a Beta version!

That's a cool new innovation. I could have used it when I was navigating the newsstand a few weeks ago (preparing my Christmas list)--but better late than never. Hopefully, Saint Nicholas will fill your shoes tonight with lots of treats in reward for your good behaviour.

I really hope he does come calling, a bit of a long overdue visit!!

I am still of the firm opinion that Santa (or as I knew him Father Christmas) exists even though every kid I know tells me he doesn't. Kids, heh what do they know?
