I wont rate the comic, but while this is one absolute classic, without the specific "3D" specs the art is impossible to appreciate... too bad, there is some pretty awesome Kirby/Simon art here. Im trying to eliminate channels of color in photoshop, but they are still too visible.

After reading your post I fiddled around and got fair results by converting the image to CMYK, burning out the cyan channel, and converting to greyscale. Then I adjusted levels to keep as much detail as possible. Still needs work, but the trial is attached.

The simplest solution to 3-D that I've found, crash, is to just grab the Green channel in the RGB file in Photoshop, copy it as a new layer and apply a radical Levels adjustment layer. Voila.

Of course, we're looking at a .jpeg of a .jpeg which by its very nature is deteriorated, but try it with a direct scan and the results will be a lot better.

I didn't say it was the BEST way, crash, just the simplest and easiest. Don't want to rain on your parade or in any way intimate that this results in a better product. But if all you want to do is LOOK at the art and read the story, you can't beat the process for extracting a b&w one-color version of the 3-D artwork.

ps. When did you join the JVJ Project and in what capacity? Welcome aboard, but somebody ought to tell me dese tings.

Mark,
It's A-OKAY with me. Since I've known crashryan longer than I've known just about anybody else in my life, he's more than welcome to join any project that I'm involved with in any capacity that he cares to volunteer for. It's got to be over 40 years now, doesn't it, crash? Gee how time does fly!
