As one who grew up during the Cold War and suffered nightmares about nuclear war, I find this book extremely creepy--yet typical of all the rubbish we were fed about Our Friend the Atom.

If this were a truly realistic comic, Spot would have turned into The Hulk.

Such realism (Spot becoming the Hulk) can only happen in comic books.  And where radiation caused such big mutations occur was mostly written by Stan Lee at Marvel.

As for "Andys Atomic Adventure" in PICTURE PARADE, it was reprinted as the first story in the CLASSICS ILLUSTRATED SPECIAL ISSUE no. 138A titled "Adventures in Science."  The same company published both titles.  I would love to see more copies of issues of PICTURE PARADE/PICTURE PROGRESS on this site.

Hey, that's great.  Let us know when you post them.  I wonder if the 68 page Classics Illustrated that have never been reprinted since 1967, but were replaced  with new art and adaptations would be considered in the public domain and there have been 3 or 4 issues that where never reprinted in the US after the early 1950s.  Only one of the 68-pagers even got a US reprint after 1967 - that was "Moby Dick" in the AKKlaim Study Guide digestsized books of the early 1990s.  It was totally recolored and resized.  I would be willing to supply scans of most of these for use here if legal.

I may be wrong, but  I think all classics were renewed whether reprinted or not
