This appears to be based on the 1941 Republic motion picture serial The Adventures of Captain Marvel.

Of course. You're right.  Spanish comics also adapted Mysterious Doctor Satan, changing the name from Copperhead to El Cobra.  We don't seem to have that short series on CB+  Hint, hint integro.
