iPod Comics?
« on: October 10, 2008, 01:54:50 PM »

Does this look like a good idea to anyone?
Someone has produced an iPod application to read 'Free Goldenage Comics!'

http://www.bitolithic.com/ComicZeal/comiczeal.htm

I'm thinking a free bonus visit to the eye-doctor should be tossed in as well after trying to actually read something on the thing.

And if you check out their download section you might find many of their comic scan offerings very familiar.

All the more reason for scanners to sign their work at different places throughout the book. In addition to just for the record if someone is going to swipe someone's labor and market it for financial gain at least they'll going to have to work for it.

Guess we just have to expect it. At least the books are getting out there instead of hiding in a vault somewhere.

viva la scan!

I think it's pretty obvious who is behind all of this.
It's a conspiracy between Apple and the The American Optometric
Association as well as eye glass making conglomerates.

What better way to blind people than getting them hooked trying to
read Free Golden Age Comics on an impossibly small screen like the iPod?

Note many of those free scans came uncredited from here and some like the Police comics were scanned from FICHE!!

So they want you to read a blurry fiche scan on a tiny 3.5 x 2" screen?
Yep, it's a conspiracy all right.

Jim Shelley over at the "Flashback Universe" line of free digital comics actually posted an article on his blog on the topic, just this morning.  His conclusions are about the same, except that he suggests it can be done if you're willing to break things down by clearly-drawn panel and not-much text.
