This is an intense origin story even for the time. Mom blows her brains out to avoid capture, baby is strung up over a fire to roast, boy eats animal guts. All served with a heavy helping of Golden Age racism.

I can't help remembering Lev Gleason's sanctimonious pronouncements about how instructive and wholesome his comics were.
