Not sure, Richard.  No date on the comic, of course and a fair time spent searching has pulled up some illos but no date.  Problem is that there is/was a Mexican comic of the same name, featuring a masked character in what appear to be football (soccer) stories. So you keep stumbling over that one.
At a guess, early '50's, but that's only a shot in the dark.  Help!
