I don't think the cover painting is by Morris Gollub. It doesn't resemble the work he produced at any time. Instead it looks like the work of George Rozen (1895-1973). He painted numerous covers for Western magazines, such as "Masked Rider" (1934-1953), "Range Riders" (1938-1953) and "Rio Kid" (1939-1953). He usually signed his name at the bottom of his paintings, but this one may have been photographically cropped for printing. If the original survives it might settle the matter - his work now sells for high prices on the art market. * May 1, 2017: Since my original post I've discovered something more about this cover. It's a reprint of the front cover of the March 1943 issue of Dell's "All Western Magazine". It's been extensively cropped. But even the much fuller 1943 version has a broad yellow caption bar at the bottom of the page, and this may conceal the artist's signature. I remain convinced by the style that it's George Rozen's work. At least one other AWM cover - for December 1941 - appears to be Rozen's work as well, although no signature can be detected on that either. (See The FictionMag Index website.)
