| A couple of unusual things about this Code-approved issue. The lead story is completely unlike the high-spirited Commie-bashing action typical of G.I. Joe comics. It's played dead straight, kind of a romance story, touching in spots, about Joe returning from the war to the girl he left behind.
The other odd thing: in the last story one guy promises another, "I'll buy you beers for a week!" I thought alcohol, even innocent alcohol, was a no-no in early Code comics. |
