An interesting oddity. Mel Keefer's art is a bit heavy on the photo reference, but still looks fine. A couple of pieces by Jack Sparling...and a photo-adaptation of a movie??

When I was a kid in the 1940s , my dad took me to see Clyde Beatty on stage, at the Brooklyn Paramount. It was a bit scarry. The circular cage that he worked in had wheels, so that there was a space at the bottom. They rolled it out, and Clyde went in. Then they released the big Cats. It was great! I never knew a day would come when I could own all the Serials he made. I never cared for the color movie from the 1950s that he was in. The 'B' movies were the Best. I'm 85 now, and still just a kid. And I realize, that my Dad was too. Every Saturday Morning from 9:00 to 10:00 AM I am allowed to be myself over the airwaves, when I ride the Radio Range as 'Yodeling Dick,' on my show "The Old Country Record Shop," where I spin very old records and pick and sing a bit, over WWOVFM.COM ('So long' for now-I'll see you on the Radio) P.S. When it comes to Comics, I still think the Golden Age is the best. Many thanks to the wonderful Folks who have gone to all the trouble to bring us "Comics Plus."

The photo-comic is a puzzler, inasmuch as this doesn't seem to have come from a feature film (based on Beatty's filmography). It's possible this is scenes from an (unsold?) Clyde Beatty television series. [UPDATE] Some of the performers & characters listed in the comic appeared with Beatty in "Perils of the Jungle" (1953): this 63-minute film contained two separate stories, suggesting it was cobbled together from unaired TV episodes. Neither of the plots in the film match the story in this issue, again suggesting that a number of episodes of a proposed Beatty TV series were shot.
