Another great read. I've finally come to see that the abrupt endings on many Buck Ryan stories was not editorial meddling. It was just the way Don Freeman liked to do it. He seems to have followed Alfred Hitchcock's maxim that once the climax is complete, the film should end as quickly as possible.

Crashryan, I suspect instead that it has a lot to do with the publisher's will. Some stories end too abruptly (wait till you see the story 55!). And also the mood and themes of some adventures, in my opinion, are inspired by the publisher.
