If you're a Civil War buff this thing is priceless!

I was most surprised by the Zouaves. I had to look up info about them. Didn't realize we had troops dressed like that in the Civil War.

Pg. 30: "The Mourning Store," a store that exclusively sells funeral & mourning goods. Probably did good business in the middle of a bloody war.

Death and attending Funerals was much more common at this time in history, so being fashionable at a funeral was the done thing. Supplying the paraphernalia of funerals was a big industry. Nowadays, its probably a bigger industry but we have largely sanitized death and removed it from sight. I'm also interested in the prevalence of Hunting clothing which makes me realize just how common and popular hunting was then. If you are an artist and interested in stories of this period or in steam-punk stories, this is your reference. For somone costuming a story or a movie, TV show or play, this stuff is a treasure trove. Thanks to the uploader.
