What a relief to have a Hopalong Cassidy comic based realistically on a book by Clarence E Mulford and not the Movie and TV version of the character. I have commented on this on CB+ before but Mulford's original version of the character is radically different and much more realistic.I'm going to enjoy reading this. Two things. This book gives an origin for the nickname 'Hop-along' and it also identified Cassidy as a Redhead. Cheers!

It's been a million years since I read "Hopalong Cassidy" but I seem to recall he was older in the books, and somewhat crochety. Or do I remember it all wrong? Anyway, it's an entertaining story. Winslade's art walks the line between straight and cartoony. The overall effect is pleasing. Interesting to read his Bear Alley bio.
