Comic StoryThe Land of Long Ago / Gorgo (20 pages)
SynopsisA scientist named Dr. Howarth had invented a time machine. He took pity on Gorgo and decided the best thing to do was use his machine to send Gorgo back to the prehistoric era where he could be with his kind. However he accidently gets transported back with Gorgo. They see numerous dinosaurs with Gorgo saving Howarth from a Ceratosaurus and later a monster Pterodactyl. The radiation from the machine wears off and the two slowly travel forward in time going through the ice age and an 18th century war in Europe before they return safely to the modern world.

While issue #1 of Gorgo would be reprinted in Fantastic Giants #24 (September 1966), this would be the final issue of Gorgo. Charlton used Gorgo again in Fightin' Five #41 (January 1967). Because the licence had expired, Gorgo's appearance was altered (his distinctive frilled ears had been removed) and he was renamed "Junior".

Steve Ditko (who illustrated many of the issues of this series) payed homage to Gorgo in Web of Spider-Man Annual #6 (1990). In one story called "Child Star" featuring the character Captain Universe, the hero brings his toys "Kongo" and "Gorga" to life to fight the villains.
