Synopsis | Floyd gives Janie a job at his father's firm because he wants to date her. Janie is quickly promoted. She dates Floyd only to keep her job. The elder Talbot dies and Janie becomes very possessive of the firm. She hires and falls in love with a handsome drifter named Dane Baxter. Floyd presses her to quit and marry him but she becomes a partner in the firm by effecting a merger with another trucking company and can now do what she wants. She declares her love for Dane and tells Floyd she doesn't love him. Dane walks out on her. Janie rebuilds the business then leaves it to search for Dane. |

Synopsis | The Brady brothers are in the trucking business together but Tom insists Steve take time off to finish writing his book. Tom meets Rose. The two fall in love but Tom won't marry her until Steve's book is finished. Rose resents Steve and wrongly accuses him of theft. Tom is so angry he refuses to see her again. Rose won't let go of the relationship and to prove Steve's an untalented parasite, she takes his manuscript to Professor Dodd, hoping he'll condemn it. Dodd however thinks the book a masterpiece. Meanwhile, the trucking business has met financial ruin. Overcome with guilt and remorse, Rose makes personal financial sacrifices to send anonymous monthly checks to Steve for his support until the book is finally published. She later meets Tom who has learned of her generosity through Steve's publisher. The story ends with a hint that their relationship will be renewed. |

Synopsis | Ted and Fran are steadies but fight often. Ted thinks it best to end the relationship. Fran is bitter and plots to humiliate him as he has humiliated her. When a store is robbed and the owner killed, Ted is suspected but he has an alibi. Fran knows he is innocent but spitefully refuses to support his alibi. Ted's lawyer Don contacts Fran about his client's case. The two fall in love. Don is found guilty of the crime and sentenced to death. Moments before the execution, Fran confesses to Don she knowns Ted is innocent. Ted is freed however when the real killer confesses. Don walks out on Fran in disgust with her last minute admission. Ted is ruined financially and Fran remorsefully tries to repair his fortunes behind the scenes. Don is impressed with her efforts and the two renew their love. |

Synopsis | Sandra is a public nurse completely in control of tiny, 2-bed Midvale Hospital. Her vanity and arrogance wreak havoc with her judgement, however. Instead of turning serious cases over to Dr. Carlton of the County Health Department, she plays the physician and, in one instance, a child almost dies because of her recklessness. The citizens of Midvale want to close the hospital as a menace to the community. Sandra is fired but, before leaving, urges the people of Midvale to keep the hospital open and to find a replacement for her. |
