Although the "Black Hood" in this more original configuration is simply a costumed hero who uses fisticuffs instead of superpowers, meta-human abilities, magic, or special inventions, I enjoyed the comic a lot. Some decades back, there was a new version where the Hood had something of the same idea as the Mask, except it always turned its wearer into a vigilante. The cat and mouse verbal jousting between Sgt. McGuinty and the Hood's secret identity reminded me of some of the banter between Britt Reid and his old Irish patrolman friend in Green Hornet.
But my real enjoyment came from The Hangman story. Here in a gritty little crime story was a parallel to two stories out of the Bible--the Pharisee and the publican at prayer and the parable of the Prodigal Son compared to his elder brother. Such an interesting allusion was unexpected and enhanced my enjoyment a lot. |

Good story but why is Black Hood not wearing ....a black hood? Or anything else black for that matter. |
