Charley says he’ll send Ruth’s parents photos of her assignation unless she plays along. Ruth spends time “in strange hotel rooms in the mad, sensuous embraces of strange men!” One day, Homer shows up as a “client”; he punches Charley and rescues Ruth. They go home, get married and have a child. |

When Pete is reported to be wounded, Grace realizes she loves him. It was a hoax to break through her hardboiled shell. Grace and Pete embrace. |
