Cynthia, noticing Arlene's interest in handsome Larry, pretends to be drowning so Larry will rescue her. This leads to an introduction to Arlene and a date for the dance. Arlene doesn't think her sister is a "brat" any more! |

Synopsis | Bargirl Linda and drunk Gary are sitting in the same bar. Linda started out as an innocent teen whose parents called her a "tramp" because she and her boyfriend were trapped in a barn overnight by a storm. Gary is forced by his father to attend medical school but isn't capable of doing the work and flunks out. They're both disowned by their parents. Linda can't find a job and takes "the easy way out," becoming a prostitute. Gary becomes a drunk. As they leave the bar that night, Gary and Linda realize they are kindred souls. They walk off together. |

Marge meets Phil at college; Hazel says there's no time for romance yet. Hazel had earlier turned down a proposal from Don, since he was just beginning his career and unable to provide the security she wanted. Phil wants to marry Marge but Hazel talks her out of it. Marge quits school to help Hazel pay the mortgage. Don tells Marge that the house is already paid for; Hazel just has a mania about financial security. Marge marries Phil and Don will care for Hazel. |
