| Notes | TRUE PIRATE COMICS 1 is an anthology comic published by Frank Johnson in December 1947 (estimated). This comic had stories about a number of different pirates, some one-of and others having a number of stories, and had an initial regular group of creators consisting of Phil Belbin, Peter Chapman and Ian Alison (writing and drawing the pirate stories), and Ron Broadley providing covers, historical information and other illustrations. This set of creators were in place for the first 15 issues of the 24 issue run, and some continued throughout the entire run. Frank Johnson originally produced many one-shot comics when new periodicals could not be registered in Australia (during World War 2); True Pirate Stories is a periodical from after the reopening of the register.
