CARL DANE – PACIFIC PERIL by Hal English was published by Cane Publications in 1946. It is also known as THE CARL DANE COMIC. Carl Dane is a private detective in the hard-boiled and noir traditions (the comic is published in that period). Hal English self-published (as Cane Publications) three comics featuring Carl Dane, of which this is the first. In addition to the adventure story, the comic includes some sports features (Rugby Union), a feature on animal oddities, and a competition. The small scale of the enterprise can be seen on page 16, where the competition closing date is changed!
