Welcome to our Classic Tales category, a great resource for
students and teachers, with some cool art work you can use in your projects.
Tom Sawyer and Treasure Island appear in Dell's Famous Stories. Dell
also include Tom Sawyer in their Junior Treasury, along with Aladdin and Gulliver's Travels.
Alice makes an appearance in a few titles, however very few of the stories are
faithful to the original character.
DS Publishing set the bar a bit higher with their
Stories by Famous Authors Illustrated. Shakespeare hits the comic book market
with his Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth and Hamlet. Another literary masterpiece
is Dickens' Nicholas Nickelby. For those of you who prefer
classic adventures then there is the Scarlet Pimpenel,
She and The 39 Steps.
A great little Spanish book is Los Mil Y Un Cuento. The thousand and one stories
of Ameller include fantasy and fairy tales. They normally end happily, often with a wedding,
despite the best efforts of witches and stepmothers. The Hindu title Manoj Chitra Katha features some stories that have already been
covered in our English titles including: Aladdin, Sindbad and Gulliver. A great comparison!
We have 42 titles and 489 issues in our 'Classic Tales Category' for you to enjoy.
