Stories of murder and other lurid crimes predominate throughout. A look at the covers reveals another important aspect of the magazine's appeal. The covers all show images of a woman, generally showing as much of her legs and cleavage as possible. At the time these magazines would not have been considered respectable, but were they thought to be pornographic?
