His Quaker characteristics include pacifism, wearing grey clothing and a broad-brimmed hat (his name therefore has a second meaning as Quakers were often called 'broadbrim' with reference to their headgear). The old detective is a master of disguise and his stories reportedly contain the true solutions of many of the great mysteries of crime that have never before been explained. |
