Synopsis | Reporter Ken is told by a female ghost--who appears in a cloud of pipe smoke--to visit the Scarlett Acres plantation. Owners Hugh and Sonia plan to murder Ken, but the ghost, Hugh's sister Honey, warns him. She says they murdered her and buried her in the tobacco fields. That's why she appears in smoke. To help Honey avenge herself, Ken tricks Hugh and Sonia into burning a barnful of tobacco. This gives Honey the power to destroy her murderers. Honey can now rest in peace. |

When a British gunboat draws near, Blackton throws the slaves into the sea to drown. However, he continues to hear their song, and is eventually dragged into the sea to die. Divers in modern times still see the corpses of the slaves on the ocean floor, singing their song. |
