I'll bet those walkie-talkies on page 2 were the type they had the string between them!

I was curious so I researched these things. The two handsets were connected by electrical wire but there were no batteries. I wonder if there was some kind of magnet setup so that talking into the microphone generated enough current to move the speaker on the other set. They don't seem to be literal "tin cans on a string" because the wire connects to a set of lugs at the base of each handset, not directly to the diaphragm. Has anyone used these?
