Man, I love Doll Man's foes. Turn to page 19 to see what I mean.

No relation to Mr. Tawky Tawny I hope?

One slight correction and clarification to the contents list of this issue, specifically the Lala Palooza story; the last name of Palooza is mispelled in the synopsis. And I think the character featured is Lala's brother, Vincent, so he is a Palooza, but he's not Lala who doesn't appear in the story. Lala's a chubby woman.

Mentioning Tawky Tawny made me wonder who came first. I couldn't remember, so I looked him up in Wikipedia, and his first appearance was dated in a 1947 issue of Captain Marvel Adventures. This issue of Doll Man is dated 1943, so this tiger seems to have come first, though the DC Wiki seems to suggest this villain never made another appearance after this issue. I wonder if the writers at Fawcett were inspired by this story?

I believe that the Buck Rogers comic strip had the Tiger-Men of Mars show up in 1930. So there was a pre-existing pop culture reference for a tiger man.
