This title was (for me) another critical eye-opener. While so many of the war comics of the 1940s and 1950s seem merely generic, patriotic gung-ho adventures, delivered in pedestrian style, WAR HEROES stands out because (like Dell's later COMBAT in the 1960s), this title sought to deliver quality a cut above the average, something that the publisher could point to with pride of execution as having some actual educational value by sticking to the real (and still at that point, quite recent) historical facts.
