In this issue's last story, “The Comeback,” a man wandering onto an atomic bomb test site is dematerialized and floats into space where he stops aliens intent on blowing up the Earth. Art by Steve Ditko. The story is a one-shot and we don't see this character again.
Eleven months later, Bruce Banner would be transformed into the Incredible Hulk in a similar accident.

First story clearly an allegory for the perceived Russian threat of the day – Mars being the red planet and all – thank goodness the cold war is over and we no longer mindlessly blame the Russians for everything bad that happens – no, wait…. A brave story from Charlton at a difficult time – Well done scriptwriter Joe Gill.
The Mindlings was pretty cool too – ‘psi powers’ were a big thing at the time. Is it possible the Mindlings are still out there and about the return? Steve Ditko’s art on The Comeback was simply staggering – hints of Doc Strange-style graphics. Ditko knew the Heart of the Beat Generation.
