| Synopsis | Bank teller Grace, who supports her mother and two young brothers on her salary, accepts a date from wealthy Reid. Grace breaks off their relationship and quits her job after her mother suffers a stroke. Grace refuses to have her mother become a charity patient at the “welfare hospital.” She also turns down gifts from the local woman’s group chaired by Reid’s mother. Grace later gets a job as a waitress in a diner and runs into Reid. Reid’s mother says her group doesn’t offer charity, just a helping hand from “neighbors.” Reid and Grace reconcile. |
